I was thrilled to be invited to join my consulting colleague Joe Luca on the podium at the 2012 IRMA (International Regional Magazine Association) conference at the the lovingly restored Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, AZ.
The topic for this year’s discussion was “Skip the Doom and Gloom: How Regional Magazines Can Survive (And Even Thrive) On The Newsstand in 2013”.
Our point: While the newsstand environment is difficult, there is a desire on the part of retailers, wholesalers and national distributors, for regional magazines and a broad market for this type of publication. Moreover, publishers who look beyond the hype of the sky is falling headlines and plan for an effective and proactive newsstand plan will see positive results from their efforts.
