One of the most popular features each year on this blog are the “Best of” cover selections.
The newsstand world of 2015 saw a continued downturn in sales and the remarkably unexpected loss of a national distributor. But despite the continued instability of the marketplace, new titles were introduced, new promotional programs were called into existence, and we continued to be dazzled by some pretty exciting magazine covers.

In 2014, despite continuing downturns in single copy sales and the expected, but not wanted collapse of wholesaler/publisher/RDA consultant Source Interlink, we returned to posting a “Best of, so far”cover collection because there were just so many great covers out there on the newsstand.

And we ended the year with a complete lineup of the top covers of 2014 that built on the mid-year compilation and added some great covers from the second half of the year.

In 2013, I chose not to do a mid-year “Best of, so far” nor a feature on illustrated covers.
With the distribution industry showing signs of stress and change, I broke my own rules for choosing covers. All of the selections for 2013 are simply covers that I “liked” and noticed whenever I was out at retail.
